Sonic Drive-in is an American fast food institution that’s been around since 1953. It is the nation’s largest chain of drive-in restaurants with 3500 locations and counting. With their continuous growth, they needed a brand refresh that would work across the brand.
The main inspiration for this brand refresh is Americana. Since Sonic was founded in the 50’s, I looked neon signs and signage from that era along with materials from their heritage as inspiration. I created a flexible typographic system that nods to their heritage that also feels modern and contemporary.
